Oil ship sinks, one sailor missing in Binh Dinh waters

HCMC – The Truong Nguyen 136 ship carrying 20,000 liters of diesel oil sank in the waters off Binh Dinh Province today, April 7, leaving one sailor missing.

At 4.30 a.m., the ship sank after colliding with another vessel called Vinafco 28 with 22 sailors on board at some seven nautical miles from the coast of Hoai Nhon Town, said Colonel Luong Ngoc Chinh, head of the provincial Border Guard Command.

The sinking ship carried 10 sailors, with one of them identified as B.T.S going missing, heading to Can Tho City from Quang Binh Province, the local media reported.

After being notified, competent forces were dispatched to the scene for search and rescue operations.

In addition, the border guards are trying to deal with the oilspill.
