HCMC – The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) is expecting 14,000 flights with some 2.7 million seats to be sold during the peak of the Lunar New Year.

CAAV has just proposed the Ministry of Transport increase flights on routes from Hanoi – HCMC, from and to Phu Quoc (Kien Giang) and Cam Ranh (Khanh Hoa) from December 29 to January 18, 2022, to meet the air travel demand during Tet 2022.

From January 19 to February 16, 2022 (the peak of Tet 2022), CAAV proposed adding the services from Hanoi to HCMC, from HCMC to Da Nang, Vinh (Nghe An), Thanh Hoa, Hai Phong, Khanh Hoa, Phu Quoc (Kien Giang) and Binh Dinh.

Other routes will be operated with nine flights per day as in the pre-lockdown period.

In order to avoid the overload as well as the wastage of resources during the height of the pandemic, airlines were asked to focus on the main routes, routes from HCMC to the northern provinces such as Thanh Hoa, Vinh and Hai Phong and routes to travel destinations such as Phu Quoc, Nha Trang, Binh Dinh and Lam Dong.
