HCMC – A shipment of over two million Pfizer vaccine doses donated by the United States arrived in Hanoi on November 26, raising the United States’ total aid to Vietnam to over 18 million Covid vaccine doses.
According to the U.S. Embassy in Hanoi, the donations are part of the United States’ steadfast commitment to supporting Vietnam in the fight against Covid-19.
Moreover, another vaccine shipment is on the way to Vietnam.
Vietnam and the United States have cooperated to improve the former’s capacity in responding to the pandemic based on the longstanding cooperation between the two countries.
The United States has donated nearly US$1 billion to help Vietnam improve its healthcare infrastructure system over the past few years.
Besides the vaccine donations, the U.S. has committed more than US$26.7 million in aid to help Vietnam tackle the pandemic.
In early October, the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology received 77 ultra-low temperature freezers for vaccine storage donated by the United States.
