HCMC – Over 38,000 workers at Pouyuen Vietnam Co., Ltd, which is located in HCMC’s Binh Tan District, have returned to work, accounting for 70% of the firm’s total workforce.

Before resuming work, these employees tested negative for Covid-19, a representative of the firm said today, November 2.

Cu Phat Nghiep, president of the labor union division at Pouyuen Vietnam, said that its workers have received at least one shot of the Covid vaccine.

To ensure the safety of workers and comply with anti-pandemic measures, the firm will conduct rapid Covid tests on employees who are at high risk of infection on Tuesdays. Those who test positive for the disease will be placed at the firm’s temporary quarantine facility, while direct contacts who test negative for the coronavirus will self-quarantine at home for 14 days.

After conducting a check on the implementation of Covid-19 infection prevention and control measures at Pouyuen Vietnam, the HCMC Department of Health asked the firm to regularly assess compliance with Covid safety measures, build a quarantine facility and get employees tested, Phat said.

To bring workers back to work, the firm had earlier conducted rapid tests on 40,000 employees and detected 147 positive cases, the local media reported.

Pouyuen Vietnam is the most labor-intensive firm in HCMC, with over 56,000 employees, making it tough for the firm to apply the stay-at-work or one-route-two-destination formulas. As such, the firm suspended its operations to prevent the spread of the coronavirus from July 23 to October 6.
