HCMC – More than one million kindergarteners, primary-school students and sixth-graders returned to schools today, February 14, having spent over nine months ;learning online.

The students have yet to receive their Covid vaccines and are the last to return to in-person classes. Earlier, students of grades seven to 12 had returned to schools, the local media reported.

Despite worrying about the pandemic, most parents wanted their children to attend in-person classes. Many students were also eager to return to school.

HCMC Vice Chairman Duong Anh Duc today visited Nguyen Dinh Chieu Primary School in Binh Thanh District.

He also checked the school’s facilities to ensure adequate pandemic prevention and control measures. He asked teachers to coordinate closely with parents to ensure the safety of students and instruct parents to immediately inform the schools if their children develop Covid-19 symptoms.

According to the HCMC Department of Education and Training, over 80% of parents of primary school students and nearly 70% of students aged between three and six had registered for their children to attend in-person classes. Primary students in the city have returned to schools voluntarily.

The department asked schools to review and improve the knowledge of students attending in-person classes. Meanwhile, students who have yet to return to school will continue studying online.
