HCMC – The Directorate for Roads of Vietnam has reported that VND30 billion in fines was collected within one month from overloaded trucks.

Traffic police inspected over 17,2000 vehicles from 15 June to 15 July and fined 4,500 of them.

The Ministry of Transport has sent an official dispatch to provincial and city transport authorities asking them to continue inspecting the weight of trucks.

Despite inspections, many trucks still carried much higher cargo volume than allowed, said Deputy Minister of Transport Le Dinh Tho in a recent document.
