HCMC – The ninth plenum of the 13th Party Central Committee (PCC) commenced in Hanoi this morning, May 16, presided over by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

The focus of the three-day meeting is making preparations for the 14th National Party Congress, slated for early 2026.

General Secretary Trong underscored the need to draft comprehensive documents for the upcoming National Party Congress, particularly the political report, socio-economic report, and Party building report.

He urged the PCC members to thoroughly review and discuss these documents to ensure they are coherent, clear, and compliant with the national development orientations for the next five-year term, from 2026 to 2030.

The meeting will address the strategic direction for preparing Party congresses at all levels nationwide, aiming to unify leadership and streamline processes for personnel preparation, elections of Party committees, and related matters.

General Secretary Trong called on the PCC to carefully evaluate the standards, structure, number, and age requirements for Party committees to ensure continuity and progressive development within the Party.

He told all PCC members to engage in discussions to formulate crucial decisions that will contribute to the success of the 14th National Party Congress.
