HCMC – Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong is attending the Government’s teleconference with centrally-governed provinces and cities today, January 3, to review the nation’s socio-economic performance in 2022 and discuss development plans for this year.

Unpredictable global developments and unprecedented difficulties last year left adverse impacts on the country, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh told the online meeting, which is also attended by President Nguyen Xuan Phuc, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue and other senior Party and Government officials.

However, the PM said while delivering his opening remarks at the teleconference, the country made remarkable achievements, translating into reality the major socio-economic targets set by the Party and the Government.

The effective Covid-19 vaccine rollouts, the faster-than-expected containment of the pandemic and the re-opening of the economy paved the way for the country to recover and grow in a sustainable way, he noted.

Given the issues that remain to be solved, the Government set up steering committees and working teams to cope with outstanding impediments to business activity and daily life.

The faster-than-expected economic recovery last year helped the nation fully achieve 13 major targets, and almost achieve another target, PM Chinh said, adding just one target was not attained.

He warned that the economy would continue to face difficulties due to internal and external factors, so greater effort should be made to implement the 2023 socio-economic plan and the 2021-2025 socio-economic plan.
