HCMC – Members of the 13th Party Central Committee yesterday, May 4, began sitting down at the fifth plenum in Hanoi to discussing key social and economic issues including Party building, land reform, agriculture, and collective economy, reported the Vietnam News Agency.

In his opening remarks at the plenum, Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong asked the participants to focus on reviewing the plan for building Party organizations and expanding membership, and strengthening the quality, strength and combativeness of the Party.

Party Central Committee members will also look into 10 years of implementing the Resolution on continued reform of land-related policies and laws, adopted at the sixth session of the 11th Party Central Committee; 15 years of executing the Resolution on agriculture, farmers and rural areas, adopted at the sixth plenum of the 10th Party Central Committee; and 20 years of carrying out the Resolution on continued reform, development and improvement of the collective economy.

Also on the agenda of the plenum is a plan to establish provincial steering committees for prevention and control of corruption and negativism, a review report on the leadership and instruction of the Politburo and the Secretariat in 2021, and other important matters.

The Party leader said the Politburo had assigned the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Internal Affairs to map out the plan.
