Passenger road transport services remain suspended in HCMC until April 22

Must read

HCMC – The HCMC Department of Transport on April 15 announced that all passenger road transport services, including passenger cars, interprovincial coaches, buses, contracted cars and taxis, will remain suspended for another week until April 22 to combat the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.

To strictly follow the prime minister’s decision on extending social distancing in HCMC until April 22, the municipal department has extended the suspension of these vehicles to ban large gatherings of vehicles and restrict travel.

Vehicles used for health care purposes or those with special permits; vehicles used for transporting food, essential goods and production materials; and shuttle transport services for employees and experts are still in operation, according to the department.

These vehicles cannot have more than 50% of their seats in use, the local media reported.

Besides this, these vehicles will have to be disinfected before and after they are used, while the drivers and workers of these vehicles are required to comply with regulations related to Covid-19 infection prevention and control such as making health declarations, regularly washing their hands with sanitizer and wearing face masks.

Coach stations were asked to work with the city’s traffic police to ensure compliance with these regulations.

Earlier, HCMC had stopped the operation of all passenger road transport services from April 1 to 15 to curb the spread of Covid-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus.
