Pham Khanh Phong Lan appointed as director of HCMC Food Safety Dept.

HCMC – Pham Khanh Phong Lan, currently serving as the HCMC head of the Food Safety Management Board, has been picked up as the director of the newly established HCMC Department of Food Safety, effective from January 1, 2024.

The HCMC People’s Committee convened a conference on the morning of December 30 to announce the establishment of the country’s first-ever Department of Food Safety and to formally appoint key officials for the department.

According to the official announcement, Pham Khanh Phong Lan will serve as the director of the department starting on January 1, 2024, until further notice. Le Minh Hai, vice head of the HCMC Food Safety Management Board, has been chosen to assume the role of deputy director of the HCMC Department of Food Safety, with a term of five years.

During the conference, Lam Hung Tan, deputy director of the HCMC Department of Internal Affairs, announced the prime minister’s decision to conclude the pilot operation of the HCMC Food Safety Management Board and establish the HCMC Department of Food Safety, effective January 1, 2024.
