Phu Quoc selected as host city for APEC 2027

HCMC – Phu Quoc, with its rapid development in tourism and infrastructure, has been selected as the host city for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders’ Meeting in 2027.

During a visit to Kien Giang Province on January 14, Vietnamese President Luong Cuong announced Vietnam’s third tenure as chair of the APEC Forum and officially designated Phu Quoc City as the host location of this prestigious event.

Phu Quoc’s rise as a global destination has been fueled by its open visa policy, excellent flight connectivity, world-class infrastructure, and breathtaking natural beauty.

Recognized by Micenet, a leading Australian platform for MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) tourism, the island is gaining international acclaim for its unique offerings and state-of-the-art facilities.

Currently, Phu Quoc is home to 311 projects with total investment capital of VND428 trillion. These include high-end entertainment and hospitality complexes that enhance its competitive edge both regionally and globally.

The island has attracted world-renowned hotel brands such as Marriott, Accor, Hilton, and IHG. Iconic resorts like the JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay Resort have hosted extravagant events, including opulent Indian billionaire weddings.

Further solidifying its global appeal, Sun Group has partnered with Accor and Ennismore to bring the Rixos brand to Vietnam and Southeast Asia for the first time. This collaboration resulted in the opening of Rixos Phu Quoc, a luxury resort that adds another dimension to the island’s allure.

In December 2024, Sun Group broke ground on the Aspira Tower at Hon Thom, a luxurious mixed-use complex featuring The Luxury Collection Hon Thom Hotel, alongside entertainment and meeting facilities.

Scheduled for completion in 2027, Aspira Tower is poised to become a global landmark, attracting millions of visitors and perfectly aligning with Phu Quoc’s role as the APEC host city.
