HCMC – Speaking at his meeting with Woo Won Shik, Speaker of the National Assembly of South Korea, this morning, July 2, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh proposed that South Korea facilitate imports from Vietnam.

During the meeting, the two leaders shared the same view that the Vietnam-South Korea relationship has rapidly advanced across various fields since the two countries upgraded their ties to a comprehensive strategic partnership in December 2022.

PM Chinh proposed that South Korea support policies that assist Vietnamese enterprises in deeper participation in the global supply chains of South Korean companies and further open South Korea’s market to Vietnam’s key products, including agricultural and aquatic goods.

He also suggested promoting cooperation between the two countries in digital transformation and green transition, with South Korea supporting Vietnam in developing human resources in fields such as semiconductors and artificial intelligence.

Woo Won Shik affirmed that South Korea’s National Assembly will work closely with the Vietnamese legislature, supporting the governments of both countries in implementing action plans and promoting cooperation in economic security and human resource connectivity.

He proposed that Vietnam create favorable conditions for South Korean businesses to operate in the country.

Both leaders agreed to make further efforts to promote bilateral cooperation, including taking two-way trade to US$100 billion by 2025.

The Speaker of the National Assembly of South Korea believed that Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s visit will further deepen the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.

Vietnam and South Korea established diplomatic relations on December 22, 1992. The two countries upgraded their relationship to a strategic partnership in October 2009 and a comprehensive strategic partnership in December 2022.

This is the first official visit to South Korea by Vietnam’s high-level leadership since the comprehensive strategic partnership was announced.
