PM orders attention to hotel quarantine issues

Must read

HCMC – After the change in hotel quarantine fees triggered public concern recently, at a regular Government meeting in Hanoi on October 2, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc ordered ministries and agencies to pay much more heed to hotel quarantine issues to prevent the recurrence of such cases.

Earlier, on September 30, 158 passengers boarding Vietjet Air’s Flight VJ963 departing from South Korea were stuck at Tan Son Nhat airport in HCMC for 10 hours as they could not reach a consensus on quarantine fees with the designated hotels.

Besides this, PM Phuc stated that ministries and agencies must be fully alert to the possibility of a resurgence of Covid-19 while implementing measures to push the country’s economic growth. Localities, especially the two major cities of HCMC and Hanoi, must tighten their entry control measures to prevent any illegal entry.

Regarding the resumption of international air services, the head of the Government said that while this was necessary, authorities must also act to prevent the spread of the pandemic in the community.

He asked the Health Ministry to closely cooperate with other ministries and localities in providing clear, concise guidelines on Covid-19 safety protocols, ensuring the health and safety of local residents, foreign experts, diplomats and investors.

At the meeting, the Cabinet leader also urged ministries and agencies to outline measures to accelerate the economic recovery of Vietnam and digital transformation amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

Further, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has to work on a plan to develop safe and attractive tourism programs for the rest of the year, the prime minister said.
