HCMC – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has called for accelerated work on the HCMC Beltway No. 3 project.

He was speaking during his field trips to key infrastructure projects in southern provinces on the occasion of the Lunar New Year holiday (Tet).

Reports from the Ministry of Transport and HCMC authorities indicate that 571 hectares of cleared land has been handed over to the HCMC Beltway No. 3 project, meeting 87% of the plan. Notably, HCMC and Long An Province delivered 98% of cleared land, while Binh Duong provided 86% and Dong Nai only 6.2%.

Delays in Dong Nai’s handover of cleared land and shortages of sand are seen obstructing the progress of the project.

At the construction site, he emphasized the need to expedite the construction of Beltway No. 3 and assigned Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha to collaborate with relevant ministries to address outstanding issues by the end of February.

PM Chinh also directed the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment to streamline administrative procedures for mining operations to ensure sufficient supply of construction materials for the project.

Minister of Transport Nguyen Van Thang said that competent authorities have agreed to utilize sea sand that meets requirements for filling roadbeds. Sea sand will be widely used for the beltway project starting in April, said the minister.
