HCMC – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has come to Bac Giang Province, one of the northern provinces severely impacted by ongoing severe flash flooding, to inspect local relief and recovery efforts.
Typhoon Yagi and its associated weather patterns have brought extremely heavy rainfall to the northern region, particularly affecting mountainous and midland provinces such as Thai Nguyen, Bac Giang and Lao Cai.
In Bac Giang Province, the PM visited Van Ha Commune in Viet Yen Town, an area heavily affected by flash flooding and currently isolated. He offered encouragement to residents and first responders working on the ground.
PM Chinh emphasized the need for all levels of government and agencies to respond swiftly and effectively to the disaster. He instructed that residents in unsafe areas be evacuated promptly to higher ground to ensure their safety.
He directed the Ministry of National Defence and the Ministry of Public Security to deploy their forces and resources to provide food, necessities and essential supplies to affected and isolated communities.
Following his inspection, he held a working session with local officials and chaired a virtual conference with representatives from Yen Bai, Tuyen Quang, Phu Tho, Vinh Phuc and Hanoi to discuss response and recovery efforts related to landslides and floods.
