HCMC – Vietnam’s State President Vo Van Thuong will travel to the U.S. next week to attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit in San Francisco.
The U.S. visit is made at the invitation of U.S. President Joe Biden, said the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Pham Thu Hang, at a press conference this afternoon, November 9.
During the November 14-17 trip, President Thuong will attend the APEC Summit, engage in dialogues with leaders of APEC member economies and the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC), and speak at the APEC CEO Summit.
This is his first visit to the United States in his capacity as State President of Vietnam.
The visit takes place after Vietnam and the U.S. upgraded bilateral relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership for peace, cooperation and sustainable development during President Biden’s visit to Vietnam in September.
The year 2023 also marks the 25th anniversary of Vietnam’s APEC membership.
