HCMC – The People’s Council of Quang Nam Province has decided to dismiss Le Tri Thanh from his role as chairman of the provincial People’s Committee for the 2021-2026 term.
The unanimous decision was reached during the 21st session of the 10th Quang Nam People’s Council convened this morning, April 8.
Le Tri Thanh served as vice chairman of the Quang Nam People’s Committee for two consecutive terms: 2011-2016 and 2016-2021.
In November 2019, he became chairman of the People’s Committee of the central province for the 2016-2021 term, and subsequently re-appointed for the following term 2021-2026 during the 1st session of the 10th Quang Nam People’s Council.
During today’s session, council members agreed to dismiss Nguyen Hong Quang from the position of vice chairman of the Quang Nam People’s Committee for the 2021-2026 term.
Both Thanh and Quang had been disciplined by the Inspection Commission of the Party Central Committee and the prime minister due to a lack of responsibility in managing their subordinate officials.
Thanh tendered his resignation in November 2023, after Tran Van Tan, vice chairman of the Quang Nam People’s Committee, was sentenced to prison for receiving bribes in connection with repatriation flights at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Thanh is expected to be reassigned to another position by the Provincial Party Standing Committee in the near future.
