DANANG – The Quang Nam Industrial Zone Authority (QNIZA) is calling on firms to invest in seaports and logistics services in the province.

The call came after the Prime Minister approved plans to expand the Chu Lai economic zone, other industrial zones and a free zone at the Chu Lai airport.

Besides, the province’s seaport and wharf system will be developed further, with the Chu Lai and Ky Ha seaports to be turned into Type-I ports. The two have operated international routes to China, South Korea and Japan.

As such, QNIZA has been tasked with calling on investors to build a waterway passage for vessels with a load capacity of 50,000 tons in Chu Lai to serve the import-export of goods and travel services. The project will be executed in 2023 and completed in 2026.

In addition, the province is wooing investors for a project to widen the Tam Hiep, Tam Hoa and Tam Giang ports and develop the Chu Lai seaport capable of receiving container ships of up to 50,000 DWT by 2030.

Le Vu Thuong, head of QNIZA, said that the investment in the waterway passage, the seaport and wharf system, some logistics services and National Highway 14D would facilitate the outbound shipment of farm produce.

These projects will help enhance connectivity between the province and Quang Ngai Province and Danang City, reducing firms’ transport costs.

In the coming months, Quang Nam Province will establish a national engineering center in the Chu Lai Open Economic Zone and develop several industrial zones into ecological industrial parks to join global supply chains.
