HCMC – Chairman of Quang Nam Province Le Tri Thanh has asked the provincial Department of Health to cancel a bidding package to purchase a real-time PCR detection machine for Covid-19 testing at VND7.2 billion after irregularities were discovered in the setting and appraising of its price.
On July 9, the provincial government stated that Thanh had signed a decision responding to the provincial Inspectorate’s proposal associated with the conclusion of the inspection of the reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction machine by the departments of Health and Finance. Accordingly, the Department of Health was told to cancel the bidding package.
Thanh also proposed taking disciplinary action against the directors of the two departments, Tuoi Tre Online reported.
The Quang Nam chairman informed the inspectors of the province to ask the Ministry of Health to publicize the reference prices of medical equipment and machines.
The Inspectorate was also tasked with urging agencies and departments to follow up on its decision and report the result to the provincial government prior to July 31.
On March 23, the province allocated some VND7.5 billion to the Department of Health and asked it to purchase a Covid-19 testing system. The provincial department then selected Viet Solution Investment and Trading JSC to supply the machine at over VND7.2 billion.
On June 24, upon inspecting the machine, the provincial Inspectorate discovered violations in the setting and appraising of the price of the bidding package at the provincial departments of Health and Finance.
