HCMC – The central province of Quang Nam will organize 62 events in the National Tourism Year 2022, expecting to welcome 4.2 million visitors and earn VND6 trillion in tourism revenue.

Hoi An City in the province recently has recorded a soaring number of visitors to the city, two years after local tourism was paralyzed by the Covid-19 pandemic. During the Tet holiday, the ancient city served around 10,000 visitors each day, reported VnExpress.

Given these positive signs, provincial tourism is expected to hold brighter prospects as Quang Nam will host the National Tourism Year 2022, which will start on March 25, and the Government will fully reopen the country’s doors to international tourists from March 15.

Nguyen Thanh Hong, director of the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said 192 events and activities will be hosted in the National Tourism Year 2022 in Quang Nam, with 10 national-level events held by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism along with other ministries and agencies. The province will host 62 events and activities throughout this year.

In addition, among the 4.2 million visitors expected to visit Quang Nam this year, the province looks to serve some 1.7 million international tourists.

In 2019 before the pandemic hit the country, Quang Nam welcomed 7.6 million tourist arrivals, including 4.6 million international travelers, and recorded around VND14 trillion in revenue.

According to the official, hosting the National Tourism Year 2022 will help rebuild and develop local tourism. Via the event, Quang Nam will continue to promote its tourism alongside Vietnam’s tourism to tourists at home and abroad.

The province is focusing on investing in infrastructure facilities and improving the quality of its travel products.

Quang Nam is home to approximately 840 lodging facilities with nearly 17,000 rooms. Of them, 51 three- to five-star hotels with over 7,000 rooms are eligible to serve international tourists, Hong added.
