HCMC – The central province of Quang Nam will welcome tourists back in four phases starting at the end of this month as it has brought the latest Covid outbreak under control, said a local tourism official.
Le Ngoc Tuong, deputy director of the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, on October 18 announced the province’s plan to help the tourism industry recover.
The first phase will start from the end of this month until next month when local tourism employees have received at least one Covid vaccine shot. During this period, the province will receive tourists who are local residents living in areas at a low, moderate, or high risk of Covid transmission, equivalent to Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3 areas, in Quang Nam and those coming from the neighboring provinces and cities. The plan will pave the way to welcome more visitors from other parts of the nation during the upcoming year-end holidays.
The second phase will begin in December once all tourism employees in the province have been fully vaccinated. The province will implement a travel bubble, welcoming tourists from Level 1, 2, 3 areas from across the country. Tourists would travel to the province through tours operated by travel agencies.
In the third phase, which will start in January, group tours and individual tourists from the Level 1, 2, 3 regions can visit the province. Tourists 18 and older must have been fully vaccinated or have recovered from Covid. For those under 18, they need to have proof of a negative test result.
The fourth phase would start when the province is allowed to reopen its doors to international travelers. It had sent a proposal to the prime minister on welcoming international tourists.
According to the proposal, international visitors to Quang Nam must have been fully inoculated or have recovered from Covid and have tested negative within 72 hours before departure. These tourists have to use package tours from travel agencies selected by Quang Nam and travel to Quang Nam by air. During their stay in Quang Nam, they must not break away from their tour group, should follow the itinerary and anti-Covid safety measures.
