HCMC – Tran Van Tan, a vice chairman of Quang Nam Province, has been stripped of all his Party positions by the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat, and expelled from the Party.

During a meeting held yesterday, December 15, the Politburo and the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat determined that Tan had violated Party regulations and Vietnamese laws, as well as breached the special rules that Party members are prohibited from breaking.

Tan’s shortcomings and violations have resulted in severe consequences, raised public concerns, and had a detrimental impact on the Party’s reputation.

In late 2022, Tan was detained on allegations of accepting bribes in connection with the organization of repatriation flights.

A month earlier, the Central Inspection Commission found that Quang Nam People’s Committee and several organizations and individuals had violated regulations related to the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic and the organization of repatriation flights.

Many officials in the province faced disciplinary measures and were removed from their Party positions, including the director of the Department of Foreign Affairs, vice director of the Health Department, vice director of the Finance Department, and vice director of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment.
