HCMC – Quang Tri Province’s border guards, in conjunction with other units, have apprehended nine Laotian nationals transporting 100 kilograms of suspected illicit drugs, said local news reports.
Major General Le Van Phuong, head of the Quang Tri Border Guard Command, disclosed details of the case on April 2, stating that this marks the largest drug seizure in the province’s history.
On March 30, border guards and other units caught five Laotian nationals red-handed transporting illicit drugs on National Highway 9, inTan Long Commune in Huong Hoa District.
The authorities confiscated 100 packets of synthetic drugs concealed in yellow and white nylon, totaling 100 kilograms, along with a Toyota vehicle bearing Laotian license plate 6689.
Further investigation led to the arrest of four more Laotian nationals hiding in Khe Sanh Town, Huong Hoa District. And two more suspects in Sepone District, Laos, were detained.
