HCMC – Saigon Railway Transport JSC will operate more trains on the route connecting HCMC and Nha Trang City from August 27 to September 6 to meet the high travel demand on the occasion of National Day on September 2.

On the HCMC-Nha Trang route, the company will put train SNT4 into service on August 27 and train SNT2 on August 28 and September 3 and 4.

As for the Nha Trang-HCMC route, the company will put train SNT5 into service on August 30 and train SNT1 on August 30 and September 5 and 6.

“Passengers are required to complete health declarations before boarding, have their body temperatures checked at the stations, regularly clean their hands using hand sanitizer or soap at the stations or on board, wear face masks while boarding or at the stations and only move between carriages if it’s really necessary,” a leader of Saigon Railway Transport JSC stated.

The railway sector has been severely affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. Saigon Railway Transport JSC, too, has suspended some trains on the southern routes due to a sharp drop in railway travel demand.

Vietnam Railways estimated its railway transport revenue from June to July at VND1.9 trillion, equivalent to 68% of the revenue earned during the same period last year. Since late July, Vietnam Railways has suspended many trains on a number of routes due to low railway travel demand.

To help railway transport companies overcome difficulties, Vietnam Railways has proposed the Government cut railway infrastructure rentals in 2020 by 20%.
