HCMC – The HCMC Department of Planning and Architecture along with the municipal Department of Construction organized a groundbreaking ceremony on June 5 for a project aimed at restoring and upgrading the park in front of the Opera House.

Speaking at the event, Le Hoa Binh, director of the HCMC Department of Construction, said the restoration of the park, known as Old Lam Son Park, would contribute to incorporating more green spaces to the city and add to its beauty. The event saw the participation of HCMC Party Committee Secretary Nguyen Thien Nhan and HCMC Chairman Nguyen Thanh Phong.

Once completed, the park, covering an area of 1,300 square meters, will serve as a public space for residents and to host cultural exhibitions, Tuoi Tre Online reported, citing Binh.

The director of the department also informed the Technical Infrastructure Management Center, the investor of the project, and HCMC Greenery Parks Co. Ltd. and HCMC Lighting Company, the contractors, to speed up the work so the park can be opened to the public on September 2 this year.
