HCMC – Vietnam’s retail and service revenue amounted to VND588.2 trillion in August, up by 10.6% year-on-year, driven by a spike in holiday-related activities on the occasion of the 80th anniversaries of the August Revolution and National Day (September 2).

Data from the National Statistics Office showed that festival, cultural, and tourism events nationwide boosted consumer demand and service activities during the month.

Compared to July, total retail and service revenue expanded by 2.6%. Several product groups saw notable growth, with apparel sales up by 13.7%, food and beverages up by 12.3%, and household goods up by 10.4%.

Service sectors also performed strongly. Accommodation and dining revenue picked up by 13.2%, while travel services jumped 15.2% from a year earlier.

In the first eight months of 2025, total retail and service revenue amounted to over VND4.5 quadrillion, an increase of 9.4% against the same period last year.

Retail sales remained the dominant component, supported by steady demand for food and beverages, along with solid growth in apparel, cultural products, educational items, and household equipment.

Accommodation and dining services generated over VND550 trillion, up nearly 15% year-on-year, while travel services brought in VND61.2 trillion, up by more than 20%. Other services contributed nearly VND470 trillion, accounting for 10.3% of the total and rising 11.9% year-on-year.

The data indicated a sustained recovery in domestic consumption and tourism, underpinned by strong festival activity and the steady rebound of multiple service industries.
