HCMC – Amkor Technology, one of the world’s largest providers of outsourced semiconductor packaging, design, and test services, has increased its investment in its facility in the northern province of Bac Ninh by US$1.07 billion, according to Baoxaydung news site.
Vuong Quoc Tuan, permanent vice chairman of the Bac Ninh Provincial People’s Committee, handed over an investment capital adjustment certificate to Amkor Technology Vietnam Co., Ltd (Amkor Vietnam) on July 1 at the Vietnam-South Korea Business Forum held in Seoul.
Established in October 2023, Amkor Technology’s plant for the production, assembly, and testing of semiconductor materials and equipment at Yen Phong II Industrial Park – Zone C in Bac Ninh Province initially had an investment of US$530 million.
Following the upward adjustment of the registered investment capital, it now has total investment capital of US$1.6 billion. With an annual production capacity of 3.6 billion products, the plant is expected to significantly contribute to the development of the semiconductor industry in Vietnam.
The facility is scheduled to commence trial operations in the first and second quarters of 2025, begin official operations in quarter three of 2025, and achieve maximum capacity by the fourth quarter of 2035.
Also at the Vietnam-South Korea Business Forum, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh witnessed the exchange of 23 cooperation agreements among ministries, sectors, local authorities, and businesses from both countries.
This underscores the strategic partnership between Vietnam and South Korea, showcasing mutual trust and shared expectations for sustainable and prosperous development in both countries.
