For a business active in the education sector, the important role of education is apparent. HCMC-based Sao Mai Education Group, throughout its 23-year journey to accompany the community since its establishment, has placed education support in the core of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs, in alignment with its own name.
“With many years operating in the education sector, Sao Mai has always considered human resources the most important factor, and therefore, Sao Mai has centered on education in its CSR programs to bolster human resource development,” the company says on its website regarding its community activities.
Enhancing knowledge for the underprivileged
On August 8, 2024, Sao Mai Education Group joined the regular Caravan Tour organized by the 2030 Business Club under the Saigon Times Club to Hue City to donate a library, school equipment, scholarships and other gifts to students in upland areas in this central city.
Sao Mai Education Group participated in this caravan tour as the platinum sponsor, joining other sponsors to make donations, which apart from a national-standard library equipped with modern facilities also included equipment like computers, e-library software and state-of-the-art interactive screens, alongside newspapers, magazines and various book titles. The library is not only the venue for students to enrich their knowledge but also a place of recreation, allowing them to grow their imagination skills.
This tour was the 15th time Sao Mai Education Group had joined the 2030 Business Club to donate libraries, and the 33rd time it had joined the annual caravan tour for philanthropic purposes. During the tour, the participants also handed out over 700 gift sets, 200 sets of textbooks and hundreds of confectionary items, with a total value of over VND2 billion.
Last year, Sao Mai also made generous donations when joining a caravan tour arranged by the 2030 Business Club covering northern localities including Hanoi, Ha Giang, Cao Bang and Lang Son.
In Ha Giang Province’s Vi Xuyen District, the tour donated a multimedia room equipped with 31 computer sets and furniture, and another 20 computer sets to other schools in the district. The participants also offered 612 gift sets, five scholarships and hundreds of blankets to students at a boarding high school, and Sao Mai Education Group as a platinum sponsor also donated a multimedia classroom during the tour.
“This is a humanitarian program, and all people at Sao Mai Education Group, from the leadership to employees, have joined forces to make contributions to the community for sustainable development,” said a representative of the company.
In late 2021, even during the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic, Sao Mai Education Group and partners surmounted manpower difficulties to start work on a new school site for Son Ca Kindergarten in Ang To Commune of Dien Bien Province’s Muong Ang District.
After five months of construction, the company and partners completed construction and handed over the new school site to the kindergarten in August 2022.
Other CSR activities
While focusing its CSR programs on education support, the company has also conducted numerous other community activities, such as providing relief aid to victims of natural calamities, or helping build houses for poor people.
In July this year, Sao Mai Education Group and local authorities in Khanh Hoa Province’s Khanh Vinh District jointly inaugurated a lighting system using solar energy along a road stretching three kilometers. Earlier, the company’s general director Dao Ngoc Hoang Giang and a partner handed over a house to a poor family in Can Giuoc District of Long An Province.
Throughout 23 years of operation, Sao Mai Education Group has contributed over VND20 billion to community projects and activities, especially in building libraries, schools and donating scholarships, said a representative of the company.
Supporting the community has over the years been a major CSR mission by the company’s leadership and employees, considering it the responsibility towards the society’s sustainable development, the representative said.
