HCMC – With 92 new Covid-19 cases reported tonight, June 4, the country’s Covid-19 tally today reached 224, marking the 11th consecutive day that the country has seen more than 200 cases in a single day.

Among the new cases, 87 domestic infections were detected in Bac Giang, Bac Ninh and HCMC. Bac Giang still recorded the biggest number of new infections with 62 cases, while Bac Ninh had 10 cases and HCMC 15 cases.

In addition, the Ministry of Health reported five imported cases, including four in Tay Ninh and one in Kien Giang.

As for the 15 cases in HCMC, the municipal Center for Disease Control informed that 13 of them were linked to the Revival Ekklesia Mission hotspot, one was related to a company in District 3 and one had a medical checkup at a local hospital.

The cases linked to the Revival Ekklesia Mission and the company in District 3 had been quarantined earlier, while the infection source of the patient visiting a hospital is being investigated.

At a meeting of the HCMC steering committee for Covid-19 infection prevention and control this afternoon, director of the HCMC Department of Health Nguyen Tan Binh said the number of Covid-19 cases has gradually fallen.

The city’s daily Covid-19 infections totaled 50 at the end of last month, and fell to 43 on June 1, 38 on June 2 and 26 on June 3. This is a positive signal proving the city’s prompt tracing and zoning.

New Covid-19 cases may be reported in the coming days as some F1 cases have developed Covid-19 symptoms despite testing negative for the coronavirus previously. However, they had been quarantined, posing no risk to the community.

Municipal vice chairman Duong Anh Duc said the reduction in the number of new Covid-19 infections was an optimistic signal but departments, agencies and districts must not be negligent. The city was resolved to put the pandemic under control within two weeks.
