HCMC – Forestry and fishery product exports dropped 14.4% year-on-year in the first quarter of this year at US$11.19 billion, so Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh this morning, April 13, presided over a meeting to find ways to reverse the fall.

In the first three months of the year, the export of wood and forestry products plunged by over 28%, while aqua-product exports dipped by over 27%.

Due to a sharp drop in new orders, many manufacturing businesses have scaled down their production, affecting businesses and millions of employees.

In 2022, wood and forestry product export value reached US$17.1 billion, exceeding 3.8% of the target and aqua-product export achieved US$11 billion in revenue, up 23.8% over 2021.

Speaking at the meeting, PM Pham Minh Chinh asked businesses to find measures to cope with the current local and global economic downturn.
