HCMC – As many as 1,794 trucks were still stranded at three border gates in the northern province of Lang Son as of May 30, and the problem is far from being solved soon as the number of trucks transporting goods to these border gates is increasingly huge while many are still waiting for customs clearance.
The Lang Son Department of Industry and Trade said that of 1,794 trucks awaiting customs clearance at the three border gates of Huu Nghi, Chi Ma and Tan Thanh, 1,209 were carrying fruits and vegetables, or two-thirds of the total, Lao Dong Online reports.
It is noted that the number of stranded trucks on May 30 increased by 112 against the previous day, as there were more trucks bound for Lang Son than the number of vehicles completing customs clearance procedures. During the day, 233 trucks transporting fruits and vegetables were allowed to enter China, while 330 cargo trucks from China entered Vietnam. However, as many as 347 other domestic trucks moved into Lang Son, queuing up for customs clearance to enter China.
In addition, the day of May 30 also saw 30 railway carriages transporting cargo to China via the railway border gate of Dong Dang.
As the fruit season is at its peak, the amount of fruit transported to Lang Son by haulage companies is on the rise, exerting pressure on the border gates.
