HCMC – The Ministry of Construction has asked Quang Ngai Province to explore a special mechanism to mobilize investment capital for the Mang Den Airport project.

Following the prime minister’s instructions, the ministry is moving forward with procedures to revise the national airport network plan to include Mang Den.

Once the adjusted plan is approved by the prime minister, the Quang Ngai People’s Committee will work with the Ministry of Construction to prepare and ratify the detailed planning.

The ministry has requested Quang Ngai Province to study and propose a special mechanism to mobilize investment resources, ensuring the project serves the province’s socio-economic development goals.

According to preliminary studies, Mang Den Airport is planned to be located in a mountainous area covering about 350 hectares, around 73 kilometers northeast of Pleiku Airport, 105 kilometers from Phu Cat, and 93 kilometers from Chu Lai.

The airport is designed with a capacity of one million passengers per year by 2030, meeting ICAO 4C standards, with plans for future upgrades to accommodate higher travel demand beyond 2030.

Earlier, at the end of December 2024, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha assigned the Ministry of Transport (now the Ministry of Construction) to take the lead in adjusting and adding Mang Den and Van Phong airports to the national planning.
