HCMC – The Saigon Times Foundation (STF), a non-profit organization of the Saigon Times Group, presented 100 “STF-Pham Phu Thu” scholarships worth a total of VND100 million to poor students in Ham Tan District, Binh Thuan Province, on November 18.

Students of the Duc Tan Senior High School, the Tan Minh Primary and Junior High School, the Tan Duc Junior High School and the Ham Tan Senior High School in the south-central province received VND35 million, VND25 million, VND20 million and VND20 million, respectively.

To ensure safety amid the complicated developments of the Covid-19 pandemic, the students were not present at the scholarship ceremony. Representatives of the “STF-Pham Phu Thu” Scholarships Program and Binh Thuan Province handed over the scholarships to the leaders of the schools.

Le Minh Tam, chairman of the Parent Association of Duc Tan Senior High School, said that Ham Tan District is home to a large number of poor students and the local educational system is seeing numerous difficulties.

“Many thanks to the ‘STF-Pham Phu Thu’ Scholarships Program for supporting our students. The scholarships will encourage students to overcome difficulties and study harder, contributing to the development of Ham Tan District,” he said.

Tam expected that the district would receive more support from generous businesses, organizations and individuals in the future.
