HCMC – Local air carriers have cut ticket prices on domestic flights during the summer holiday. These prices remain significantly below the ceilings set by the Ministry of Transport, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV).
In June, ticket prices range from 13% to 80% of the maximum prices set for various routes. Similarly, ticket prices in July are offered at 20% to 70% of the ceiling prices on different routes.
For instance, on the Hanoi-HCMC route, Vietnam Airlines offers air ticket prices ranging from VND1.26 million to VND2.9 million, equivalent to 37-86.4% of the ceiling prices. Meanwhile, tickets offered on the same route by Vietravel Airlines range from VND1 million to VND1.2 million, or 29.6 to 35.2% of the regulated maximum prices.
In July, air tickets offered by Vietnam Airlines on the Hanoi-HCMC route are sold at between VND1 million and VND2 million, accounting for 31% to 48% of the ceiling prices. Prices of air tickets announced by Vietjet Air could vary from VND0.8 million to VND1.3 million, or 23.2% to 37.9% of the limit.
Starting June 10, local carriers will increase night flights to cater to the growing travel demand, particularly for tourist cities such as HCMC, Hanoi, Danang, Hue, Vinh, Nha Trang, and Haiphong.
