HCMC – Work on the foundation of Terminal T3 at the Tan Son Nhat International Airport in HCMC is expected to begin within this month, according to the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV).

The terminal project is awaiting the handover of land.

Do Tat Binh, deputy general director of ACV, said that speeding up the land handover for the project is necessary to ensure the terminal can be completed after 37 months, in line with the prime minister’s Decision 657 dated May 19, 2020.

ACV proposed the Ministry of Transport ask the prime minister for approval of the land handover so that the corporation can proceed with bomb and mine clearance work and break ground on the project this month.

After getting the nod from the prime minister to develop the project with a capacity of 20 million passengers per year, ACV quickly conducted all procedures related to the survey, feasibility study, environmental impact assessment and design, according to a dispatch sent to the Ministry of Transport by ACV.

The corporation reviewed all costs to finance the project at some VND11 trillion.

ACV invited tenders on May 5 to select a contractor to build the foundation of the terminal.

Terminal T3 will cover some 16.4 hectares of land in Tan Binh District, which is managed by the Ministry of National Defense, said ACV.
