HCMC – The Thai Consulate-General in HCMC today, December 5, held a ceremony to mark the 95th National Day of Thailand and celebrated the birthday anniversary of King Bhumibol Adulyadej.

The ceremony, themed “Thailand on the day back”, also incorporated an exhibition that features multiple booths from the Thai Trade Center in HCMC and some Thai enterprises showcasing Thai beauty and healthcare products.

Addressing the ceremony, Consul-General of Thailand in HCMC Wiraka Moodhitaporn said the comprehensive relationship between the two countries had been strengthened over the past few years.

“Bilateral trade between Thailand and Vietnam is growing, moving toward the target of US$25 billion set by the two governments,” said Wiraka.

Speaking at the event, Bui Xuan Cuong, vice chairman of HCMC, said, “Looking back on Vietnam-Thailand relations over nearly half a century, the two countries can be proud of their achievements across all aspects, from politics and economic ties to tourism and people-to-people exchanges.”

HCMC has been an important destination for Thai businesses. As of November this year, with 248 projects and total registered investment capital of more than US$498 million, Thailand ranked 12th among 117 countries and territories investing in HCMC.

The total import-export turnover between HCMC and Thailand reached over US$2.8 billion in 2021, said Cuong.

HCMC highly valued its relationship with Thailand and committed to contributing to the continued development of the enhanced strategic partnership between Vietnam and Thailand by boosting trade, investment and cultural cooperation, science, technology and people-to-people exchanges.

“On behalf of the Thai community, I would like to thank the Vietnamese Government, the HCMC government and medical workers for their efforts to protect and support the Thai people who were living and working in Vietnam during the Covid period,” said Wiraka.
