HCMC – The Vietnam Expressway Authority under the Ministry of Transport has awarded contracts to three consortiums to develop rest areas along the North-South Expressway, according to local media reports.

The contracts cover three rest area projects along the eastern section of the expressway.

The first project was awarded to a consortium comprising Phuong Trang Futabuslines and Thanh Hiep Phat Company. They will develop rest areas at km366+850 (right route) and km366+920 (left route) on the National Highway 45-Nghi Son section, with a total investment of VND328 billion, including VND10.2 billion for compensation and resettlement.

The second contract was secured by a consortium consisting of T&T Tourism Investment JSC, 19/5 Thanh Hoa JSC, Trung Phuong Private Enterprise, and Dong Bac Trading & Construction Corporation JSC. This group will construct a rest area at km36+500 on the Cam Lo-La Son section, at a total cost of VND289.7 billion, including VND7.4 billion for resettlement.

The third rest area, located at km725+500 in the Van Ninh-Cam Lo section, will be developed by the Vietnam National Petroleum Group (Petrolimex) and Thua Thien Hue Petroleum Company. The project is valued at VND354 billion, with VND6.5 billion for resettlement.

Construction is expected to be completed within 12 to 14 months, with essential public service facilities to be finished within nine months. Investors will operate the rest areas for a 25-year concession period.

In August 2024, the Vietnam Expressway Authority had already awarded contracts for eight rest area projects. It aims to finalize investor selections for 10 additional projects by the second quarter of 2025.
