HCMC – The Mekong Delta province of Tien Giang is prioritizing agricultural tourism to create employment opportunities, enhance local income, and showcase its unique natural and cultural attractions to visitors.
These efforts are integral to the province’s comprehensive tourism development plan, which prioritizes sustainability to ensure long-term benefits.
Tien Giang has developed specific programs to harness our tourism potential responsibly, with a focus on collaboration between government, businesses, and local communities, said Vo Pham Tan, deputy director of the provincial Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism.
The local government is actively supporting rural livelihoods while highlighting the province’s rich agricultural heritage.
Currently, Tien Giang boasts 46 rural tourism destinations and numerous small-scale handicraft producers integrated into the tourism sector.
In the first quarter of 2024, the province welcomed over 352,000 tourists, up by nearly 70% year-on-year. International arrivals surged by over 96% to 123,000 visitors.
Tien Giang aims to attract 1.65 million tourists and make VND1,250 billion in tourism revenue by the end of this year.
