HCMC – Cam Lo-La Son Expressway, connecting the central provinces of Thua Thien-Hue and Quang Tri, has been plagued by a series of tire blowouts due to soaring road surface temperatures since the beginning of April.

The Traffic Police Department under the Ministry of Public Security said at a news briefing yesterday, April 4, that a total of 12 tire blowout incidents had been reported on the expressway in the first four days of April.

These incidents involved various types of vehicles, including passenger cars, container trucks, tractor-trailers, and cars.

Authorities attribute the cause of these incidents to the extreme heat in Quang Tri Province, where road surface temperatures have soared to as high as 63 degrees Celsius. Additionally, the absence of rest stops along the expressway forces vehicles to travel continuously, causing tires to overheat and eventually burst.

Spanning over 100 kilometers across Quang Tri and Thua Thien-Hue provinces, Cam Lo-La Son Expressway has no rest areas. Drivers are urged to thoroughly inspect their vehicles, especially tires, before embarking on this route.
