HCMC – With air ticket prices soaring, residents are turning to the train service as an alternative option for their travels during the upcoming Reunification Day (April 30) and International Labor Day (May 1) holidays.
According to the Hanoi Railway Station, there are still a few train tickets available for short-distance travel such as Hanoi-Thanh Hoa and Hanoi-Vinh. For instance, cushion-sleeper-bed tickets are still available on the Hanoi-Thanh Hoa route.
However, tickets are nearly sold out for trains departing from Hanoi to northern provinces on April 26 and 27, as well as return trips to Hanoi on April 30 and May 1.
Similarly, seats on trains operating from Hanoi to HCMC on April 30 are filling up fast, with only 45 to 50 seats available on SE3 and SE4 trains, mainly soft seat and sleeper-bed tickets.
To meet the surging travel demand, the Hanoi Railway Station recently released an additional 60,000 train tickets, mirroring a similar initiative by the Saigon Railway Station.
