HCMC – The Dong Nai investigative police agency prosecuted and arrested Tran Quoc Tuan, former director of the Dong Nai branch of the State Bank of Vietnam, and Vo Khac Hien, former deputy director and chief inspector of the central bank’s Dong Nai branch, on September 14.
Tuan was detained for allegedly abusing his power while on duty, while Hien was in custody for his alleged dereliction of duty, leading to serious consequences.
According to the results of the preliminary investigation, Tuan and Hien were prosecuted for their involvement in wrongdoings, causing losses of over VND1 trillion to several people’s credit funds in the province.
Many directors of the funds were found to mobilize money for the wrong purposes, leading to insolvency. Some directors of the funds were imprisoned, while others fled, Tuoi Tre Online reported.
Earlier, Tuan and Hien had been disciplined and dismissed from their posts due to their lack of responsibility and slack leadership, leading to multiple violations. The police are continuing to investigate the case.
