HCMC – Just two days after they were opened to traffic, Thieu Giang and Dong Thang interchanges on the Mai Son-National Highway 45 expressway have been temporarily closed, the local media reported.

The closure, announced on April 24 by the Department of Transport of Thanh Hoa Province in northern Vietnam following a notice from the Thang Long Project Management Board, is required to finalize certain unfinished elements, such as lighting systems and signage, to ensure traffic safety.

As a result of the closure, vehicles are being rerouted an additional 30-40 kilometers, causing inconvenience to road users.

The Thang Long Project Management Board had initially requested the commissioning of these interchanges on April 19. These interchanges serve as vital nodes among seven interchanges connecting the North-South expressway through Thanh Hoa Province.

The interchanges might be reopened on May 1.
