HCMC – Investigators of Binh Duong Province yesterday, October 7, pressed charges against Nguyen Duy Linh and Nguyen Van Vo, two firefighting officers of Thuan An City, for their alleged involvement in a deadly karaoke bar fire that killed 32 people early last month.

The investigators prosecuted the two and searched their workplace for their “lack of responsibility that caused serious consequences”.

Besides, Vo was detained, while Linh was put under house arrest due to health issues, the local media reported.

The decision to file charges against them was approved by the provincial People’s Procuracy on the same day.

The provincial Police Department also decided to strip Linh and Vo of their People’s Police title.

On September 6, the fatal fire broke out at around 20:15 at An Phu Karaoke in An Phu Ward, Thuan An City, Binh Duong Province. The blaze claimed 32 lives and left 17 others injured.

The provincial investigators on September 16 prosecuted and detained Le Anh Xuan, the owner of the karaoke bar, for allegedly violating fire safety regulations.
