HCMC – As part of a series to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Vietnam-UK diplomatic relations, the Consulate General in HCMC will hold the UK festival 2023 in HCMC on September 16, 2023.

The festival will be celebrated on Le Loi Boulevard, District 1, HCMC. Admission is free.

Festival-goers will have a chance to experience British culinary delights and UK music, featuring Military Band performances, boy band 911, local renowned singers and DJs.

There will be more than 20 renowned British universities and institutions showcasing their education offers and available scholarships.

Moreover, an array of British products hailing from popular brands in retail, healthcare, and financial services will be available.

Visitors can also look for more information on leading projects and technologies in renewable energy that reflect the commitment of both nations to a greener, more sustainable future.

The UK Festival will feature two special reading sessions by British Ambassador to Vietnam, Iain Frew, and British Consul General in HCMC Emily Hamblin. The books chosen are popular among Vietnamese children, which include Peppa Pig and Harry Potter.

Speaking to the media on September 14, Consul General Emily Hamblin said that the festival in Vietnam serves as a bridge between the two nations, celebrating 50 years of enduring friendship and cooperation.

Vietnam and the UK have experienced dynamic growth in various fields, as evident in 6.9 billion pounds in bilateral trade in 2022, a 29% year-on-year increase, she added.

The festival is supported by the UK Government’s GREAT Campaign, AstraZeneca, Dragon Capital, British University Vietnam, Standard Chartered, Unilever, BP and Vietnam Airlines.
