HCMC – The HCMC Department of Transport has rejected banning vehicles on Truong Sa Street to develop the Phan Xich Long Food Street project as previously proposed by Phu Nhuan District.

Banning vehicles on a section of Truong Sa Street running across the Rach Mieu Sports Club in Phu Nhuan will negatively affect traffic in the city, the department said.

The streets of Truong Sa and Hoang Sa along the Nhieu Loc-Thi Nghe canal are two important traffic routes of the city, connecting many densely populated districts in the city, including districts 1, 3, Binh Thanh, Phu Nhuan and Tan Binh.

These two streets have greatly contributed to ensuring traffic order and safety, reducing traffic pressure on other roads in the city.

Thus, the department suggested banning vehicles on the internal roads instead of the inter-district roads to minimize the effect on the traffic order of the city.

As proposed by Phu Nhuan District, the food street project will be located on Phan Xich Long Street and its branches in wards 2 and 7 in the Rach Mieu residential area.
