HCMC – The Ministry of Transport has proposed the Ministry of Home Affairs allow Vietnam Register to use contract workers to cope with severe labor shortages at some vehicle registration and testing facilities under the department.

The current labor shortages result from many senior officials and inspectors at seven auto testing centers and two offices under the direct management of Vietnam Register having been detained due to their alleged irregularities since December 2022.

Supplementing labor, especially a contingent of inspectors, is now urgent, failing which will lead to overwhelming numbers of cars which cannot be tested on schedule.

It takes at least 60 days to recruit employees working for agencies under the management of Vietnam Register pursuant to the applicable regulations; meanwhile, the addition of human resources to these agencies to maintain their normal operations is urgently needed.

Additionally, the register department is not authorized to recruit personnel on its own.

Therefore, Vietnam Register sought permission to recruit professionals working for the agencies under its management through contracts to resolve the labor shortages.
