HCMC – The national steering committee for Covid-19 infection prevention and control has not recorded any new Covid-19 cases this morning, July 27, while the 416th and 418th patients, who had earlier been confirmed to be infected with Covid-19 from community transmission, have taken a turn for the worse.
Among the 420 confirmed cases, 365 patients have made a full recovery, accounting for 87.5% of the total, Tuoi Tre Online reported.
Of the total 55 active cases, the 416th and 418th are the most critical Covid-19 patients.
When being admitted to the hospital, the 416th patient, a 57-year-old male resident of Danang City, was diagnosed with pneumonia and acute respiratory failure, according to the committee.
The patient has been put on an extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) machine since July 25.
The doctors said that the patient will have to rely on ECMO, a life support machine which allows patients’ lungs and hearts to improve and function properly, for a long time. The mortality rate is high, the doctors added.
Meanwhile, the 418th patient, a 61-year-old man living in Danang City, is put on a ventilator while suffering some diseases and a heart failure. His kidneys were damaged.
