HCMC – The Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism has said it intends to recommend the Government adjust up the international tourist arrival target for 2023 from eight million to a range of 12.5 million or 13 million.
Deputy Minister Doan Van Viet said that Vietnam looks to welcome 1.1 to 1.2 million foreign tourists a month in the final quarter of 2023, particularly during the Christmas and New Year holiday season.
Therefore, the ministry wants to revise up the 2023 target for foreign tourist arrivals to inspire businesses to further intensify their endeavors in attracting international visitors, enhancing service quality, diversifying products, and upgrading infrastructure.
According to information available on the ministry’s website, Vietnam already attracted 8.9 million foreign visitors in the first nine months of 2023, surpassing the full-year target of eight million that was set at the beginning of the year.
These positive outcomes are attributed to a combination of measures implemented by authorities to stimulate tourism and the heightened demand from travelers following the temporary suspension caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
