Vietnam sees newly established enterprises jump in Aug

HCMC – The number of newly established businesses in August jumped nearly 53% compared to the same period last year, with average registered capital rising 71.2%, official data showed.

The country reported 20,500 new firms in August, with total registered capital of VND326.1 trillion and 106,900 workers, according to the National Statistics Office.

Compared with July, the figures were up 23.9% in number of firms, nearly 2.8 times in capital and 35.4% in labor.

The average registered capital per new business reached VND15.9 billion, more than double the previous month and up 71.2% year-on-year.

Businesses resuming operations rose 46% against a year earlier to 12,400.

Meanwhile, 6,500 enterprises registered for temporary suspension in August, down 11% from July.

In the January-August period, more than 128,000 new firms were established nationwide, with total registered capital of VND1,254.5 trillion and nearly 777,000 workers, up 15.7%, 26.1% and 15.5% respectively from a year earlier.
